Position Overview

As the Director of Fundamentals Modeling, you will be responsible for REsurety’s power price and carbon emission impact forecasting capabilities. REsurety’s customers include large clean energy buyers, sellers, and investors. You will be responsible for increasing the accuracy, applicability, and commercial value of the power market and emissions forecast results across the customer base. You will guide and manage the fundamentals modeling team and work with members of REsurety’s Research, Engineering, Analytics, and Product teams to innovate and collaborate on the direction and strategy for REsurety’s fundamentals modeling capabilities. You will also be responsible for customer interactions, being a thought leader for REsurety’s expertise and innovative models to external stakeholders.

REsurety uses its unique Weather-Smart approach to fundamentals modeling to provide our customers with best-in-class forecasts of renewable energy value and risk. This role will allow you to work closely with and collaborate with experts in renewable energy, meteorology, electricity system design, fundamentals modeling, and data analysis. At REsurety, you will also be exposed to concepts and processes from software engineering and product development with the fundamentals models providing a key input to our software products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the fundamentals modeling team, lead the development of REsurety's power market fundamentals forecasts, and deliver on-time, high-quality forecast releases
  • Drive innovation within REsurety’s power market fundamentals modeling capabilities to continually increase their value for our customers
  • Direct regular updates to the power market fundamental assumptions underpinning our forecasts, ensuring the latest information, data, policy, and regulations are appropriately represented
  • Interpret model outputs and implement changes to ensure realistic results that are well-calibrated to observed outcomes
  • Participate in customer advisory and thought leadership to develop and share commercial insights and value from REsurety’s power market models
  • Work with Research, Engineering, Product, and Analytics team members to further develop and refine our modeling platform

Required Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in a technical field
  • 5+ years of experience with power market fundamentals modeling software (e.g. PSO, PLEXOS).
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role and/or managing a team
  • A strong understanding of the functioning of North American wholesale electricity markets.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and presentation skills
  • A passion for driving down the cost of energy from renewable sources

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience using a programming language to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data, in particular R, Python, and SQL
  • Experience using Machine Learning in an applied setting

Details:

  • Location: Boston, MA
  • Our organization works on a hybrid model. We are in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at our downtown Boston building, remote optional on Wednesdays and Fridays.
